Additional Software Requirements:

The EDGECAM installation process may prompt the installation of additional software components if they are not already present on your system. These include:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework: Versions 3.5 SP1 (including 2.0) and 4.0
  • Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages: 2008, 2010, and 2013 versions

Live Job Reports Server Requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 7/8/8.1 or Windows Server 2008 up to 2016 (Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are not supported)
  • Web Browser: Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome (version 28 or above), Microsoft Edge, or Firefox (version 22 or above)
    Important Notes:

While EDGECAM can technically run on the “home” editions of Windows 10 and 11, it is strongly recommended to use the Professional editions for optimal stability and support.

Virtual server environments are supported for network licenses with Computer ID USB keys. However, standalone (single-seat) licenses cannot be used on virtual servers.

Installing multiple EDGECAM versions on the same computer with limited user rights or UAC enabled may cause issues with the Simulator component.

Domain Controllers are not suitable for running the ToolStore Server or EDGECAM due to limitations with SQL.
Microsoft has identified an issue when running SQL Server on drives formatted with 4k sectors. To avoid this, avoid installing SQL Server or its Express version on such drives.

EDGECAM no longer supports:

  • Windows XP, Vista,
  • Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and Server 2003.
  • Windows 8 RT is also not compatible.
  • SQL Express 2014 has limitations of 1 GB memory and 10 GB database size.

If you anticipate a larger database or require storing numerous job images, consider alternatives or exclude job images from storage within the database.

Keeping Your System Up-to-Date:

EDGECAM is constantly evolving, and newer versions may have updated system requirements. It’s recommended to check the official EDGECAM website for the latest requirements before installation. By ensuring your system meets the recommended specifications, you can unlock the full potential of EDGECAM and experience a smooth, efficient workflow.
